PROJECT TITLE:

Data mining methodologies and techniques for the analysis and exploitation of large volumes of information based on Epidemiological and Longitudinal Population Registers (LONGPOP).

 

PROJECT SUMMARY. Description of activities and objectives:

The project H2020 Marie Sklodowska Curie ITN Data mining methodologies and techniques for the analysis and exploitation of large volumes of information based on Epidemiological and Longitudinal Population Registers (LONGPOP – http://longpop-itn.eu), a unique project in Europe in its area, has a specific training programme for people developing their doctoral thesis or technical training. In this framework, the objective is that the student acquires advanced skills in data management and statistical techniques in relation to the tasks to be performed, such as data mining or the use of Big Data in social sciences and health, and the handling of large historical and current longitudinal databases. Specifically, and depending on the profile of the person, the main activities will be:

 

 computer development, data visualization management, programming of statistical analysis in R, Python, or similar, systems architecture, databases, data matching, data mining, collection of census and civil registry data, and quantitative analysis of population data;
 modular development of online applications, the creation or adaptation of new Javascript libraries, areas of social networking, gambling, data mining, or statistical analysis of data and metadata.

 

The multidisciplinary nature of the Department of Population will also allow training in document tracking, information synthesis, chronologies of relevant historical events, contribution to the database, elaboration of tutorial materials for external users, calculation of indicators, dissemination on the Internet, etc.
